OGCS Guinee SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the Global Mining and Energy Industry.
We are seeking candidates for the position of Specialist, HSE Technical Writer, to join the Simandou Project in Guinea.
Position Overview:
The Specialist, HSE Technical Writer is a key contributor to the development and implementation of the Simandou Project’s HSE Integrated Management System (IMS). Working closely with operational teams, subject matter experts, and leadership, this role ensures that HSE documentation is technically accurate, operationally relevant, and aligned with both Rio Tinto systems and national regulatory requirements.
The Technical Writer will play a strategic role in shaping safety communication, training materials, and field-validated procedures across different locations.
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain HSE documentation (policies, procedures, manuals, plans, forms) aligned with Rio Tinto standards and regulatory requirements.
Translate complex technical content into clear, actionable language for diverse audiences, including low-literacy environments.
Ensure integration of HSE documentation and systems with Rio Tinto's corporate platforms and standards.
Verify that all HSE materials and procedures comply with applicable national legislative and regulatory requirements in Guinea.
Collaborate with SMEs and operational leaders to ensure documentation reflects real-world practices and risks.
Support the creation of training materials and onboarding content, including input into training matrices and competency frameworks.
Participate in field validation of procedures and integrate feedback into continuous improvement cycles.
Maintain document control systems and ensure version integrity across all HSE materials.
Support audits, inspections, and readiness reviews with relevant documentation and insights.
Qualifications and Proficiencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Communications, or a related field.
Professional experience in HSE, including experience in technical writing roles within mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
Strong understanding of HSE principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Fluent in English and French (spoken and written), with excellent technical writing skills in both languages.
Proficient in MS Office and document control systems.
Collaborative mindset with experience working in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Attributes:
Familiarity with Rio Tinto HSE standards or similar international frameworks.
Experience working in West Africa or comparable operational settings.

ABOUT THE SIMANDOU PROJECT
The Simandou Iron Ore Project (Blocks 3 & 4) is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is a high-grade, world-class iron ore deposit and represents one of the largest known iron ore reserves in the world.
The Simandou South Project operates under the Simfer joint venture where the Government of Guinea holds 15%, Rio Tinto and Chinalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH), which hold 45.05% and 39.95% of Simandou respectively, continue to work with the Government of Guinea to explore options to develop the Simandou iron ore deposit, as well as potential mechanisms for collaboration on the infrastructure required for the development of the Project and mining operations.
