“We’re here to help projects succeed. That’s the mission.”

David Perrier on joining OGCS – and what’s next.

Already rotating between Vancouver, Canada, Reno, Nevada and Houston as Business Manager for Lithium Americas Thacker Pass Project, David has added another area of focus: extending the reach and scope of OGCS team through his network in Canada.

“When OGCS reached out, this felt like the right kind of opportunity for me to have more impact.” he explains.

“This is a small, focused team with the credibility to operate at a high level – with the agility to step in and make a real difference. That appealed to me.”

His decision was grounded in the same principles that have shaped his career.

“I want to be useful, have impact. I want to help organizations avoid the mistakes I’ve seen made too many times. And I want to support project personnel – especially those who are where I was 20 years ago – so they can make better informed decisions, faster.”

Working with OGCS, David sees the potential to combine deep technical delivery with practical contract strategy and leadership mentorship.

“I’ve seen big projects falter not because the engineering was wrong, but because the leadership didn’t know how to sequence decisions. Or they didn’t understand the contractual implications of a change until they were already committed.”

Mining, he adds, is in a particularly dynamic moment. “There’s a real shift happening. Supply chains are being rethought. ESG expectations are changing. And infrastructure in emerging markets is now on a scale that rivals traditional power. Real experience at the table is essential, and it’s a good time to build capability for the next generation.”

David’s personal network across Canada and Worldwide, has already begun to bring value to OGCS.

“It’s not just about knowing people – it’s knowing who to call when something specific needs doing. It’s about trust. If I vouch for someone, that means something. And vice versa.”

Looking ahead, David is focused on building confidence in execution from day one. “If you wait until something breaks, it’s already too late. What I try to do is help projects understand where their hotspots are going to be, long before the risk register starts lighting up. That’s where the value lies.”

His demeanor is calm, but the intent is clear.

“We’re not here to rubber stamp anything. We’re here to help projects succeed. That’s the mission. That’s what I care about.”
