Overview
OGCS supports clients during the earliest and most critical phases of major energy and infrastructure projects, where sound technical decisions underpin cost, schedule, and delivery confidence. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Civil & Structural to act as Owner’s technical authority during FEED.
Responsibilities
Civil & Structural Technical Authority
Act as Owner’s civil and structural technical authority throughout FEED.
Define, review, and agree geotechnical investigation scopes and assess resulting ground models and soil parameters.
Ensure geotechnical outputs are appropriately reflected in foundation and structural design assumptions.
Design Review & Technical Assurance
Review and assess foundation concepts, structural systems, and primary building designs.
Check compliance with applicable US and EU codes, standards, and Owner specifications.
Provide technical challenge and guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
Site Layout & Constructability
Review plot plans, module sizes, crane positions, haul routes, and temporary construction facilities for feasibility, safety, and efficiency.
Support constructability planning, identifying civil and structural risks early and proposing mitigation measures.
Ensure site development and construction sequencing considerations are integrated into design decisions.
Cost, Schedule & Risk Integration
Ensure civil and structural design choices, assumptions, and risks are clearly reflected in FEED cost estimates and schedules.
Support alignment between engineering, construction, and project controls teams.
Provide technical input to support informed decision-making by the Owner.
What We’re Looking For
Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related discipline).
Extensive experience delivering civil and structural scopes for large energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Strong grounding in geotechnical engineering principles and foundation design.
Familiarity with both US and EU design codes and standards.
Proven ability to assess constructability and integrate engineering decisions with cost and schedule impacts.
Clear communicator with the authority and judgement to act as an Owner’s technical representative.
