Overview
OGCS supports Owners during the most value-critical phases of major energy and industrial projects, providing experienced technical leadership to ensure scope, cost, and risk are properly defined from the outset. We are seeking an Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Mechanical & Rotating Equipment to act as Owner lead for static and rotating equipment during FEED and early procurement.
Responsibilities
Mechanical & Rotating Equipment Authority
Act as Owner lead for static and rotating equipment throughout FEED.
Review and confirm mechanical design basis documents, equipment specifications, and data sheets.
Provide technical oversight for pumps, compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, vessels, heaters, and packaged units.
Technical Review & Bid Evaluation
Lead Owner technical reviews of vendor bids and technical bid evaluations for long-lead items (LLIs).
Provide specialist input for complex equipment packages, including oxy-fired heaters and main hydrogen and CO₂ compression systems.
Support vendor selection by ensuring technical compliance, risk visibility, and alignment with project objectives.
Maintainability & Reliability
Review plot plans, access routes, lifting studies, and maintenance philosophies to confirm suitability for long-term operation.
Ensure maintainability, reliability, and operability requirements are embedded in mechanical design decisions.
Identify equipment-related risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
Procurement, Cost & Risk Support
Support procurement teams with technical input during tendering and contract award.
Ensure mechanical equipment scope, risks, and assumptions are clearly reflected in FEED cost estimates and schedules.
Assist with cost control and change management related to equipment packages.
What We’re Looking For
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Significant experience leading static and rotating equipment scopes on large energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of FEED-stage engineering, equipment specification, and vendor evaluation processes.
Experience with complex or novel equipment packages and long-lead procurement.
Practical appreciation of maintainability, reliability, and construction constraints.
Credibility to act as Owner’s technical authority and interface effectively with vendors and project teams.
