Non-Process Infrastructure Superintendent, Electrical & Instrumentation (Simandou)

OGCS Guinea SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the Global Mining and Energy Industry. 

Position Overview:

Candidates are invited for the position of NPI E&I Superintendent. This role is responsible for overseeing all electrical and instrumentation (E&I) activities for non-process infrastructure (NPI) at the Simandou mining project, Guinea, West Africa.

In this role you will play a critical role in meeting project deadlines and maintaining Rio Tinto HSE standards at all times. You will proactively manage progress, cost, and contractor performance, ensuring risks are identified early and mitigated effectively.

This role demands strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to positively influence the workforce. You will play a key role in maintaining momentum on site, including stepping into nightshift leadership when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Develop and implement construction execution plans, schedules, and logistics aligned with project goals.

  • Monitor progress against key milestones, identifying and resolving delays and issues proactively.

  • Ensure construction work is carried out in strict compliance with Rio Tinto Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

  • Support risk management and mitigation strategies throughout all project phases.

Leadership and Teamwork

  • Manage and report on construction budgets, cost forecasting, and change management processes.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure alignment across functions.

  • Drive contractor performance through robust contract management and KPI tracking.

  • Serve as the primary interface between site operations and senior leadership, providing clear and concise updates.

Troubleshooting

  • Providing high-level technical support as needed on site.

  • Standing in for Nightshift Manager during leave periods.

  • Foster a strong safety and performance culture across a diverse, multinational workforce.

  • Ensure adherence to local laws, permitting requirements, and community engagement standards.

About You:

  • Proven track record in site-based leadership roles (Supervisor / Superintendent level) on large-scale, multi-contractor projects.

  • Experience in West Africa or similar remote, logistically complex environments.

  • Experience with Non-Process Infrastructure, preferably delivering greenfield scopes.

  • Ability to manage and positively influence workforces and contractors, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of international HSE standards and experience working to major operator frameworks (e.g. Rio Tinto, Shell, TotalEnergies).

  • Familiarity with local regulatory requirements, permitting processes, and community engagement considerations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation or a related discipline.

  • 10–15 years’ experience in E&I construction and commissioning within mining, oil & gas, or major infrastructure projects.
