OGCS Guinea SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the Global Mining and Energy Industry. Applicants are invited for this important role for the Simandou project in Guinea, West Africa.
Position Overview:
The E&I Superintendent will lead all electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction activities on this critical mining project, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-schedule delivery. As part of the project’s leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all E&I scopes are delivered safely, on schedule, to specification, and in full compliance with international standards and project governance. This role demands technical depth, strong commercial and contractor management acumen, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a remote, high-performance environment.
This role is based at the Simandou Mine Site in Guinea , with occasional travel between project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all Electrical and Instrumentation construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality.
Develop and implement construction execution plans, schedules, and logistics that align with overall project goals.
Monitor progress against key milestones, identifying and resolving delays and issues proactively.
Ensure construction work is carried out in strict compliance with Rio Tinto’s health, safety, and environmental standards.
Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure alignment across functions.
Manage and report on construction budgets, cost forecasting, and change management processes.
Drive contractor performance through robust contract management and KPI tracking.
Serve as the primary interface between site operations and senior leadership, providing clear and concise updates.
Foster a strong safety and performance culture across a diverse, multinational workforce.
Ensure adherence to local laws, permitting requirements, and community engagement standards.
Support risk management and mitigation strategies throughout all project phases.
Stand in for the Nightshift Manager during designated periods..
What you’ll bring:
Deep technical understanding of mechanical, electrical (HV/LV), and instrumentation systems in complex infrastructure.
Strong working knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, API, ISO).
Proven success managing multiple contractors and large workforces in remote or developing regions.
Familiarity with systems completion frameworks, commissioning handovers, and turnover documentation.
Experience working in West Africa or similar remote regions is highly desirable.
Knowledge of project execution in greenfield mega-projects is a plus.
You must be committed to high safety and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
12+ years of experience in large-scale mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent or equivalent leadership role.
Degree or diploma in Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent trade background with supervisory certifications).
