OGCS Guinea SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the Global Mining and Energy Industry. Applicants are invited for this important role for the Simandou project in Guinea, West Africa.
Position Overview:
The E&I Project Construction Engineer will support the successful delivery of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) scopes on the Simandou Iron Ore Project in Guinea. Working as part of the client’s construction team, this role ensures that all E&I works are executed safely, to specification, and in line with project schedule and budget. The position requires strong technical oversight, contractor management, and a disciplined approach to quality, safety, and documentation throughout all project phases.
Specific Responsibilities:
Key accountabilities of the role for your area include:
Monitor contractors work for compliance to schedule, budget, technical specifications, and legal requirements.
Conduct progress meetings and prepare reports on project status.
Communicate and implement safety rules, policies, and procedures to contractors and subordinate personnel.
Recognize and act promptly on potential changes or additional work to the contract conflicts or ambiguities in the plans and specifications and changes in field conditions.
Negotiate, analyze, resolve settle, deny, and/or make recommendations regarding contractor conflicts and claims considering contract plans specifications and estimates, conditions, costs and time.
Conduct field visits to examine construction site conditions and issues.
Participate actively as a member of the Clients construction team for project delivery.
The E&I Project Construction Engineer manages project development from initial site design through as-built drawings.
Oversees workpack compilation and contractor progress.
What you’ll bring:
Solid technical understanding of electrical (HV/LV) and instrumentation systems in large-scale mining or heavy industrial environments.
Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction plans.
Strong working knowledge of international codes and standards (IEC, NEC, ISO) and their application in complex project settings.
Experience coordinating and verifying contractor activities, progress reporting, and workpack management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage change, claims, and field issues proactively.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
Experience working on major greenfield or remote-site projects (experience in West Africa or similar regions is highly desirable).
Commitment to upholding high standards of safety, integrity, and project governance.
Qualifications and Experience:
8–12 years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation engineering or construction roles within mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
At least 3–5 years in a site-based project engineering or construction coordination role.
Degree or diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent technical background with field experience).
Demonstrated success supporting project execution through commissioning and as-built documentation.
Familiarity with large EPC/EPCM project environments and contractor performance management systems.
