Contracts Lead, Mexico City (FPSO)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Lead to take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of the FPSO package for a major offshore development project in Mexico.

This role is suited to a contracts professional with significant experience (8-10 years) in complex offshore developments, strong commercial judgement, and a proven ability to manage high-value contractor relationships throughout the full contract lifecycle.

Scope

The FPSO Contracts Lead will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of the FPSO package. Acting on behalf of the Operator, the role will lead all phases of contract development and administration, including contracting strategy, tendering, negotiation, award, contract execution, claims management, change control, and close-out. The position will interface closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and FPSO contractors to ensure successful delivery of the FPSO scope in accordance with project objectives, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the FPSO contracting and commercial strategy aligned with overall project execution plans.

  • Lead pre-award activities including market engagement, tender preparation, RFI/RFP development, bid evaluations, commercial assessments, and contract award recommendations.

  • Negotiate complex FPSO contracts including FEED, Lease & Operate, EPCI, Operations & Maintenance, and major equipment agreements.

  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from award through close-out, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company governance requirements.

  • Administer contract change management processes, including variation orders, claims, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.

  • Monitor contractor performance against commercial, schedule, cost, quality, and HSE requirements.

  • Serve as the primary commercial interface between the Operator and FPSO contractors, suppliers, joint venture partners, and stakeholders.

  • Support project risk assessments and ensure contractual risks are identified, mitigated, and appropriately allocated.

  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Tax, Insurance, and Project Controls teams to ensure contractual alignment and compliance.

  • Lead commercial reporting, forecasting, and management presentations related to FPSO contracting activities.

  • Ensure adherence to Mexican regulatory requirements and applicable international offshore industry standards.

  • Support audits, governance reviews, and project assurance activities.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to Contracts Engineers and Commercial Specialists within the project team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Contract management experience for large-scale offshore EPC/EPCI projects

  • Demonstrated experience managing FEED, EPCI, Lease & Operate, or integrated FPSO delivery contract

  • Knowledge of Mexico’s offshore regulatory environment strongly preferred

  • Fluency in English required; Spanish proficiency strongly preferred
