Robert McIntosh: A People-Centric Leader Delivering on OGCS’s Global Growth

In a high-growth industry where numbers often dominate the conversation, Robert McIntosh brings something different to the role of CFO: a calm, people-centric leadership style that has quietly but powerfully shaped OGCS Global's evolution from a startup to a thriving multinational energy services company.

Robert joined OGCS in 2014, shortly after its founding, at the critical time when the company was expanding into new regions and sectors. With a background that spans oilfield services, financial analysis, and broadcast operations, his career trajectory is anything but traditional. But that diversity is precisely what fuels his strength as a strategic finance leader. He sees the big picture, understands risk and market dynamics, and—perhaps most importantly—knows how to build systems that support people and performance at scale.

A CFO Who Leads With People, Not Just Numbers

“People are the foundation of everything we do,” Robert says. “Whether it's making sure they get paid on time or simply knowing we have their backs—those small things matter deeply, especially in high-pressure environments.”

His leadership style—steady, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent—has become a cornerstone of OGCS’s culture. Whether navigating the complexities of a new regional office or scaling operations in remote locations like Guinea, where the team grew from 3 to nearly 200 in just 12 months, Robert's approach ensures employees feel supported, engaged, and empowered.

“Energy sector teams are tough,” he reflects. “They often work in remote, demanding environments—but even the toughest people are deeply affected by things like pay, recognition, and feeling valued. If you don’t get those right, negativity spreads fast. And that affects performance.”

From Broadcast Ops to Boardroom Strategy

Robert’s unconventional professional path—spanning Latin American field ops, broadcast facilities, and equities trading—might seem eclectic on paper, but each chapter added depth to his leadership style. His time in broadcast operations taught him how to manage complex, creative teams under pressure. His work in equities sharpened his analytical mindset and risk awareness. At OGCS, those experiences converge, enabling him to lead with both structure and empathy.

“Every role I’ve held has been about people, really,” he says. “Understanding what motivates them, what drives performance, and how to bring out the best in a team.”

Guiding OGCS Through Rapid Growth and Industry Change

As OGCS expands beyond its three regional hubs of Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific into new regions like the Middle East and Africa Robert’s role is more critical than ever. He works closely with leadership to align financial strategy with long-term goals, while staying attuned to industry shifts like decarbonization and AI-driven efficiency.

“Our job is to grow sustainably—not just in terms of revenue or headcount, but in how we support people through growth. That’s where real, lasting value comes from.”

Staying Grounded, Staying Curious

Despite the demands of his role, Robert stays grounded through meaningful relationships and personal passions. He credits OGCS co-founders Phil Burke and Ed Comiskey for their, persistence, infectious optimism and drive, which continue to fuel his own vision for what’s possible.

Outside work, you’ll find Robert enjoying good food, outdoor fitness, and exploring lesser-travelled regions—most recently, the Caucasus, drawn by its history, culture, and cuisine.

Looking Ahead

With OGCS’s momentum only accelerating, Robert’s steady hand at the financial helm—and his unwavering focus on people—will continue to be a driving force. His journey is a reminder that great finance leaders don’t just manage numbers; they build cultures, shape strategy, and create environments where people thrive.
