The Role
This role is integral to the success of major capital projects, providing accurate cost control, analysis, and reporting across all phases of development. As a Cost Engineer, you will ensure project budgets are well-defined, expenditure is properly managed, and performance is clearly understood by project leadership and stakeholders.
You will:
Establish and maintain cost control systems covering all project phases, from concept through commissioning.
Monitor and analyze expenditures, variances, and forecast trends, ensuring proactive cost management.
Support development of cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts in coordination with planning and procurement teams.
Prepare monthly cost reports and performance analyses that align with project KPIs and earned value metrics.
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams to validate progress and cost-to-complete forecasts.
Identify potential cost risks and opportunities, recommending corrective actions as required.
Contribute to project change management processes, ensuring accurate cost impact assessments.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a cost professional with strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
You’ll bring:
10+ years of experience in cost engineering or project controls for major EPC or infrastructure projects.
Proven background in the energy, petrochemical, oil & gas, or large-scale construction sectors.
Strong understanding of cost management principles, work breakdown structures, and earned value analysis.
Proficiency with cost control tools and software, and confidence managing large datasets.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface across multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and long-term project delivery.
Flexibility to work at remote project sites and/or relocate within the Middle East region.
